Lawyer Eron Kiiza is mourning the sudden death of his brother, Kushaba Anthony, a journalist who later served as a communications officer with Ntungamo District Local Government.
Kiiza announced Anthony’s death in a tribute, saying his brother was found dead at his residence in Ntungamo shortly after returning from the burial of their paternal aunt in Kajara, Ntungamo.
The circumstances surrounding Anthony’s death remained unclear, with Kiiza saying the family did not yet know what caused his sudden death.
Anthony had worked in the media industry for several years, serving at Radio Kigezi and BFM, among other stations, before moving into public service.
He later joined Ntungamo District Local Government as a Communications Officer, marking a shift from broadcasting to institutional communications.
Kiiza described his brother as a trusted friend and confidant, saying his death had left the family deeply shaken.
“I have lost a great brother, a friend and a confidant — someone I could trust,” Kiiza said in his tribute.
Beyond his professional work, Anthony was remembered for his close involvement in the welfare of his ageing parents.
Kiiza said his brother regularly checked on their parents while travelling between Kabale, Ntungamo and neighbouring areas.
“No one looked after our ageing parents as he did,” he said.
Anthony had a home, wife and children in Kabale town, but his final resting place will be in Rwahi, Rwentobo–Rwahi Town Council.
His burial is scheduled for Sunday, where family members, friends and colleagues are expected to gather to pay their final respects.
Kiiza said the family was drawing strength from Anthony’s life and the contribution he made to those around him despite his relatively short time.
He described his brother’s life as one marked by purpose, service, hard work, warmth and generosity.
“It was a short life, but an impactful and happy one,” Kiiza said.
The lawyer also remembered Anthony as a man who remained closely connected to his family despite his professional and personal commitments.
His death comes as a sudden loss to the media fraternity, public service and the people who knew him in Kabale and Ntungamo.
As the family prepares for his burial, questions surrounding the cause of his death remain unanswered.
Kiiza ended his tribute by expressing gratitude for his brother’s life and offering a final prayer: “May he rest in peace.”
