Former Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Asan Kasingye has praised bodyguards and security escorts for their role in protecting government officials, dignitaries and their families.

Kasingye said the officers have remained committed to their duties, allowing the people they protect to focus on their official responsibilities without constant concerns over their personal security.

In a message appreciating security personnel, Kasingye thanked bodyguards for what he described as their “commendable job” in protecting their principals and their families.

“I would like to thank, salute and give flowers to all bodyguards and escorts in this country. You’re doing a commendable job,” Kasingye said.

He noted that the work of bodyguards extends beyond providing physical security, with some officers also undertaking duties outside their traditional responsibilities while serving their principals.

According to Kasingye, some security personnel are required to carry items belonging to their principals, including lunches, tea, laptops, handbags, Bibles and prayer books.

He also cited other tasks that some escorts perform, including pushing shopping trolleys, looking after animals on farms and washing vehicles.

Kasingye further said some bodyguards are called upon to monitor children’s performance at school or check on sick relatives in hospitals.

Despite the additional responsibilities, he said the officers have continued to demonstrate resilience, discipline, commitment and focus in carrying out their duties.

“You’ve remained resilient, committed, disciplined and focused on your duty. Your contribution to the country is appreciated by us who understand your roles, and we pray for you,” he said.

The former police chief said the work of bodyguards is often conducted away from public attention, despite its importance in ensuring the safety of senior officials and other prominent individuals.

He expressed appreciation for their service and concluded his message with a prayer for the officers and their families.

“May God bless you so much. Asante sana,” Kasingye said.

His remarks highlighted the wide range of responsibilities handled by security escorts, whose primary role is to protect their principals while supporting their movements and daily engagements.
