First Lady Janet Museveni has celebrated President Yoweri Museveni’s 82nd birthday, thanking God for preserving his life and guiding him through what she described as an extraordinary year.
In a message marking the President’s birthday, Janet said the occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on God’s kindness, mercy and grace over the years.
She described reaching another year of life as a blessing, while expressing disbelief that Museveni had attained the age of 82.
> “It is amazing that another year has gone by. We give praise and honour to God for His loving kindness, mercy and grace,” Janet said.
The First Lady said God had continued to walk with the family, allowing them to enter another year despite the challenges experienced in 2026.
She noted that the year had been different from previous years, making the preservation of life an even greater reason for thanksgiving.
“2026 has been a year unlike other years, and therefore we have even more reasons to give thanks to God for the blessing of life,” she said.
Janet also reflected on her presence alongside the President as he marked the milestone, saying it was evidence of what she described as God’s faithfulness.
“The fact that I am here in person to wish you a happy birthday is a testament to God’s goodness and Faithfulness,” she said.
Her message combined personal birthday wishes with a strong expression of faith, as she credited God for sustaining the President and allowing him to reach another milestone.
Janet concluded by praying for continued blessings and divine purpose in Museveni’s life.
“Happy 82nd birthday, Mzee! May God continue to bless and use you mightily,” she said.
Museveni, who has been Uganda’s president since 1986, has continued to dominate the country’s political landscape as he approaches four decades in power.
His latest birthday comes amid heightened political activity ahead of Uganda’s 2026 general election, in which Museveni is seeking another term.
His birthday has therefore also provided an occasion for supporters and allies to celebrate his long political career and leadership of the country.
