Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has donated a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser utility pickup truck to the Uganda Media Centre (UMC).
The vehicle was handed over to the UMC on Sunday, September 20, 2026, in Kampala, in a move expected to strengthen the institution’s operational capacity, particularly during assignments requiring long-distance travel across the country.
The donation was delivered on behalf of General Muhoozi by the Acting Director of Defence Public Information, Colonel Chris Magezi.
Col Magezi handed over the vehicle to UMC Executive Director Alan Kasujja during an event attended by officials from the two government institutions.
In a statement, Magezi said the vehicle would support the Media Centre in carrying out its responsibilities, especially field operations outside Kampala.
“General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has donated a brand new utility Toyota Land Cruiser pickup truck to the Uganda Media Centre (UMC),” Magezi said.
He added that the vehicle was expected to “boost UMC operations, especially long distance travel across the country.”
The donation comes as government agencies continue to coordinate their operations and resources in pursuit of public service delivery.
According to Magezi, the handover also reflects the working relationship between the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) and civilian government institutions.
“The donation is a demonstration of the close interagency cooperation in government to enhance service delivery and strengthen transparency and accountability across sectors,” he said.
The Uganda Media Centre serves as a government communication platform, providing information on government programmes, activities and policies while facilitating engagement between government institutions and the media.
The new vehicle is expected to provide additional logistical support to the institution as its officials undertake assignments across different parts of Uganda.
The handover also highlights the role of government agencies in sharing resources and supporting one another in carrying out their respective mandates.
Magezi signed the statement in his capacity as Acting Director Defence Public Information at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs/UPDF.
The donation by Muhoozi, who serves as the country’s CDF, places additional focus on cooperation between Uganda’s defence establishment and institutions responsible for government communication and public information.
